2021 Toyota Mirai Release Date

2021 Toyota Mirai Release Date

After waiting for it for months, we now have the certainty: the new Toyota Mirai will be unveiled by the end of the year.

The Japanese manufacturer has, in fact, announced that the second generation of the Mirai, a hydrogen-powered sedan, will make its debut in December. The Price of this Hydrogen Sedan Starting at $64,000.

What we will therefore discover in just over a month is the definitive production version of the car, the Toyota Mirai that will arrive at the dealership and on our streets in the course of 2021, anticipated by a teaser image that shows the sleek silhouette of the car.

All-new look, 30% more autonomy

The new Toyota Mirai, anticipated by a concept presented for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and from which it should not differ much from an aesthetic point of view, will have a radically renewed design compared to the current model.

Also, there will be numerous efficiency improvements, thanks to a hydrogen propulsion technology that will be able, as anticipated by Toyota, to increase the range by 30%, thus bringing it to about 650 kilometers.

2021 Toyota Mirai Redesign – A more elegant design expected

The 2020 Toyota Mirai is an almost five-meter long sedan with sleek and elegant lines. The bonnet is generously sized and incorporates the house badge on the front.

Underneath, there is a large full radiator grille, given the lack of need to cool the heat engine while the optical unit develops laterally to give the car more momentum.

Looking at it from the side, the side is like a coupe with the roofline that descends towards the rear, massive and square, characterized, starting from the top, by a spoiler, a horizontal headlight assembly, and a large black bumper.

The prototype will be presented in a new blue livery that uses multiple paint layers for a sophisticated optical effect.

Interior

The interior has been conceived as a sober, modern, comfortable, and welcoming space complementary to the car’s driving pleasure. Three main features include the 12.3-inch central display and the driver-oriented instrument cluster.

The interiors are technological and elegant. The exclusively digital instrument panel and the large touch display of the infotainment stand out.

Both are placed on a raised level with a large center console that houses two cup holders, the transmission knob, and the physical buttons to control the air conditioner.

The elegant bronze-colored insert starts from the bottom and overlooks the air intakes placed right in front of the passenger. The new Mirai will allow five occupants to enter the car, no longer four for the outgoing model.

TNGA platform

The TNGA modular platform on which the new Toyota Mirai is built will allow the use of Toyota’s rear-wheel drive and give the new Mirai greater structural rigidity as well as a lowered center of gravity to increase driving agility.

There is not too much information on the powertrain yet, but with the new generation of Mirai, Toyota aims to increase range by 30%  thanks to the refinement of the fuel cell system and the use of larger hydrogen tanks.
